    In a survey of over 500 New Zealanders*, Expedia.co.nz found that more than one in ten (13 per cent) Kiwis access the internet up to as much as five times a day when on holiday, while a quarter (24 per cent) say they access the internet at least daily.     New research from Expedia.co.nzTM, operated by Expedia, Inc., the world’s largest online travel company, has found that Generation Y Kiwis are most likely to complain in order to land themselves a free upgrade on a flight or in a hotel.

    The survey*, conducted among 500 New Zealanders, revealed that almost a fifth (18 per cent) of New Zealanders aged between 18-24 were willing to complain about nearby guests/passengers, the food, or quality of service to score a flight or hotel upgrade, double the national average of 9 per cent.

    A global survey conducted by online travel company Expedia® shows New Zealand workers officially joining the ranks of the world’s most holiday deprived nations.

    The annual global Expedia Vacation Deprivation® survey, conducted in 11 nations(and this year for the first time in New Zealand)by Expedia, the world’s leading online travel company, found that 45 per cent of New Zealanders leave at least some of their annual leave days untaken, second only to Japan, where 92 per cent of its employed people leave on average almost half of their annual leave days on the table.     One in six Kiwis support the Wallabies as their ‘second’ Rugby World Cup team

    They may be bitter rivals on the rugby field but Kiwis have demonstrated their fondness for Australia with 17% supporting the Wallabies as their second team and picking it as one of the rugby nations they’d most like to visit, according to the latest survey by online travel company Expedia.co.nz.

    The nationwide survey* reveals that, apart from our beloved All Blacks, Kiwis would rather support their trans-Tasman rival than any other country in the Rugby World Cup.

  47. Expedia throws down the gauntlet on booking fees

    The world’s largest online travel company, Expedia, has thrown down the gauntlet with local competitors who continue to charge their customers booking fees which, according to Expedia, offer no value to customers.

    While Expedia.co.nz continues to lead the campaign against fees, some online travel agents (OTAs) in New Zealand continue to charge customers fees of over $40 to book a flight. They also charge various fees to change/cancel a flight, hotel or package.

    Research* commissioned by Expedia late last year found that around three quarters of New Zealanders are angered when websites charge fees and believe they should not be charged.
